Every interior designer has their own way of working with clients and their homes. At Speas Interior Design, we are a full-service interior design firm, which means that we can take your project through the entire process—from creating detailed design plans to helping you select the finishing touches like your countertop material or window treatments.
Planning for the over 10,000 different decisions that may come up when designing a new space can be complicated, but at Speas Interior Design, we strive to streamline that process. Our thoughtful philosophy for interacting with others and creating complete and functional interiors is just one element that differentiates us from the rest. Read on to learn more about our process and contact us to learn more about how we can help you with your next home project or remodel.
Our Process Begins With Your Space
We begin each interior design process in the same way—with an ongoing conversation. We start with a phone call so that we can fully grasp the scope of the project: this helps us learn each client’s unique needs, like whether they want something simple, a full-scale remodeling job, or are looking to plan their construction from the ground up.
After our initial call, we set up an in-home meeting so that we can gain a fuller understanding of the space and its functional needs. We often find out a lot about our clients, and they learn more about us during this time. Our team discusses the goals, budget, and timeline of the project, which helps inform us about what the client values when it comes to the decisions they make in their homes.

Concept Development and Space Planning

After together reviewing and signing the contract, we circle back around to developing the concept for the space—looking through idea books and other media for inspiration.
We like to ask our clients, “What is your absolute dream?” In our experience, we often find that achieving these goals is more obtainable than our clients often think at the beginning of the process. We are happy to work in phases, breaking the project into easily-digestible pieces that can be completed over time, focusing first on high-priority areas.
Whether you’re looking to reconfigure an entire space or alter a kitchen’s layout, our full-service interior design team can make your vision come to life.
Selecting Design Elements, Furnishing, and Fixtures
Once our plans have been confirmed, then the fun part happens! We work with our clients every step of the way to pick those important and exciting design elements that bring a space to life. We pull from our years of experience and know what questions to ask, helping make those important decisions based on our plan.
For example, if the main focus is on the main floor where friends, family, and guests spend most of their time, we’ll prioritize those high-end finishes first and select coordinating and less-costly alternatives to unify the design—allowing your budget to encompass the most important areas of the remodel first.
We will coordinate between your contractor and the different suppliers or showrooms to ensure a seamless process so that construction goes along easily. Most interior design projects last longer than a client might think—and our attention to process and detail allows us to create custom solutions. We finalize each element, so our clients don’t have to worry about the sourcing or conversation with vendors.
We love seeing the looks on our clients’ faces when we find the perfect addition to their design. Our reward is seeing all these elements come together to form a completely custom, beautiful, and functional space our clients will love for years to come.
