While everyone reacts with contrasting reactions towards colors, most of us agree that colors influence our moods and play important roles in our lives from the clothes we wear to the cars we drive. Colors influence our emotions: black portrays authority, white symbolizes purity, red stimulates our senses, green calms, blue relaxes us, yellow excites people, orange projects happiness and enthusiasm, and purple implies luxury.
Color also plays an important role in how we feel in and about our homes. According to industry experts, interior design color trends take their lead (at least a year behind) from the fashion runways of New York, Paris, and Milan! That’s right, fashion foretells, a year or so in advance, what shades eventually will infuse homes across the world. This year’s forecast is an extreme switch from safe, soothing, and secure palettes to bolder, stronger colors that induce optimism, exuberance, and cheer (many believe in reaction to the economy). Custom Home Magazine reports The Color Marketing Group has announced “P’zazz” (a vibrant, deep red-purple), which we have seen in past seasons on the runway and in our closets, as the must have home color for this fall and next spring! According to CMG’s forecast, “expect it to adorn feature walls, accent soft furnishings, and breathe new life into standard hues such as beige, navy, and gray.”
CMG also reports that in alongside p’zazz, honeymoon (a golden hue achieved by blending “the sweet earthiness of honey and the romance of a harvest moon” to conjure upbeat realism) is the neutral golden child to pair with p’zazz for home decor in the near future.
Infusing a bold color like p’zaaa into your home’s existing interior is no easy feat!
