  • Interior Design Services

Speas Interior Design in conjunction with Sikora and Speas, offers our clients a one-stop solution for the design build process.

Interior Design – Residential and Light Commercial: Whether it’s interior design for an office waiting room, a full home complete with interior design and remodeling services, a kitchen makeover with new cabinets, countertops and flooring, or a simple master bedroom that we transform to a master sanctuary, Speas Interior Design offers full service residential and commercial interior design in Colorado Springs and surrounding communities.

Resort and Vacation Homes: Cozy mountain lodge in Summit County, Colorado or coastal cottage on the lake in Maine, you’ve worked a lifetime for the resort or vacation home of your dreams. Shouldn’t the interior design of your vacation home reflect not only your lifestyle but your sense of style as well?

Sustainable Living (AKA Green Living): Creating a sustainable living environment that uses eco-friendly building and design materials as well as practices takes a special set of skills.  At Speas Interior Design, we’re a Member of the United States Green Building Council and on our way to REGREEN a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, an internationally-recognized green building certification system) Certification program for remodeling professionals through the USGBC. This exclusive designation is flexible enough to apply to all building types – commercial as well as residential. It works throughout the entire building and design lifecycle – design and construction, operations and maintenance, and retrofit of any type of project. If you are looking to take your ordinary space to an extraordinary space that’s “eco-friendly” and energy efficient, call us today for a complimentary consultation.

Custom Design: Furniture and accessories; fabric and upholstery; custom rugs; treatments for windows, walls, ceilings and floors; colors and textures; custom light fixtures and lighting plans; and surfaces from tile to natural and solid – Speas Interior Design is the perfect solution for your interior design project.

Aging in Place: According to the U.S. Census Bureau, our elderly population will more than double between now and the year 2050, to 80 million people. That means roughly one out of five adults in the U.S. will be over the age of 65.

One of the biggest challenges in the next 30 years will be how to meet the demand for quality living environments for these older adults.  Ultimately, we wish to see our senior adults able to stay in their own homes for as long as possible but this will often times require lifestyle, floor plan and interior design modifications to accommodate older residents needs. An experienced Aging in Place interior designer, Kathy Speas works hand-in-hand with family members, medical advisors, and construction teams to insure that your loved one doesn’t have to give up their independence or home.

Space Planning: Space Planning isn’t something you learn to do in a weekend!  Livable space planning takes years of experience and practice to scale floor plans and elevations, draw conceptual illustrations and renderings, and placement of furniture to ensure maximum livability to meet one’s active lifestyle.

Remodeling – Residential and Light Commercial: While all interior design projects require thoughtful space planning, not all interior design projects require remodeling services.  But when they do, you want peace of mind knowing that your home is in the hands of not only an interior designer who is a professional member of the ASID but in the hands of a licensed Colorado Springs building contractor.  Once your plans have been finalized, it’s time the real transformation begins and the husband wife team of Sikora and Speas are just the team for this transformation. As a licensed contractor, we’ll pull the necessary permits, secure the required trade contractors, and manage the job from demolition to decorating and everything in between!

Custom Furniture and Ironwork: Creating artistic custom furniture and ironwork since 1990  Whether it’s a stand alone piece that accents your special room or  a custom fireplace forged of steel, your custom creations by Andy Sikora will provide you with years of enjoyment and stylish living.

Landscape Design and Outdoor Living Spaces: Landscape design, landscape lighting, outdoor kitchens, outdoor fireplaces, outdoor water features, cobblestone pathways, exterior décor and outdoor furniture and accessories for your custom patio or deck – we have the experience to turn your outdoor spaces into outdoor living and entertaining spaces.

    The Process

Once you have completed our questionnaire (this will be emailed to you after you contact us), if we feel we are well suited for your work, Speas Interior Design will schedule an initial consultation (either at our studio or your location) in which the scope of work and scale of design services are discussed in order to evaluate and determine your needs and desires.

After the initial consultation, a written proposal including, fee structure and anticipated completion date, will be established based on your budgetary requirements and scope of work.

Upon acceptance of the written proposal, creative work will begin and you’ll be provided with either a detailed hand-drawn or Auto CAD plan of the project. Color boards will be presented with conceptual ideas that demonstrate samples of color, fabric, tile, carpet, specialty finishes as well as furniture & lighting specification sheets.  Once the design plans are finalized, we’ll refine the final budget for your final approval.

Then the fun begins as we go through the of visiting design studios, selecting interior finishes, meeting with craftsmen, and putting the finishing touches on the final job.  While we will manage the job site and oversee the design, remodeling and installation phases, you are welcome to be as involved or uninvolved in the process as interested.  In fact, our clients are so comfortable with our process and so pleased with our final product, that many choose to take a vacation while the real magic occurs!
