  • Global Color and Design Trends from PPG Industries

PPG Industries - a world leader in global color trends recently published a beautiful magazine titled “Odyssey - 2016 – 2017 Global Color and Design Trends”. This stunning publication has beautiful images of color and photographs along with unique information about 2016’s color trends globally across all markets.

Here are a few highlights from their publication:

    Odyssey Trends

The word Odyssey represents the adventurous experience in our fast-changing, unpredictable world that is keeping us excited and vigilant at the same time.

2016’s overarching trend theme is Odyssey.  The word itself conjures adventures and discoveries but also the possibility of danger.  All that unknown keeps us alert, excited and valiant.  It is a thrilling time to be alive but definitely pushing us out of our comfort zone.  The four trends within Odyssey are: I/m Perfect, Hyper HD, Lucid Dreams, and Knights watch.

     I/m Perfect

Mixing the I’m Perfect with Imperfect, this trend is appreciating the perfection of imperfection. The colors are saturated and blended hues that hint at a vintage mildly at a bohemian spirit.

    Hyper HD

By mixing dazzling brights with softer and neutral tones, the palette mimics the way the tech and natural worlds collide.

    Lucid Dreams

Lucid Dreams is all about softness, fluidity and delicacy. Gentle combinations of nuanced pastels and light neutrals creates a soothing, quiet space.

    Knights Watch

Knight’s Watch represents excellence, durability, protection and brawn. An army of darkened hues lend serious weight to the cleanliness and order of the soft whites.

PPG also announced their color of the year:

Our Color of the Year 2016: Paradise Found

Paradise Found PPG1135-5 is an organic, aloe green with an undertone of blue that offers at once a subtle, but serious sense of ease and rejuvenation. It is a steadfast, impenetrable color that fills today's consumers need for sturdy reassurance against the growing threats to global, national and cyber security.

Paradise Found looks beautiful as an accent – either wall, ceiling, or door, interior or exterior.

Paradise Found is a truly versatile hue.
